“My wife and I worked with Emily on our wedding up at Mountain Terrace. She was amazing - doing everything to coordinate with the vendors and the venue to make sure our special day came out to be the magical event we hoped to create. Many of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. Emily is sweet, professional, and helped us make the right decisions in a stress-free environment. We highly recommend her!

the origin story.
If you’re here, it’s probably because you’re looking for someone to bring your dream wedding to life—something a little out of the ordinary, right? Perfect, because that’s exactly what I love to do!
I grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where my family runs the beautiful Riverdale Manor, an award-winning wedding venue. I’ve basically been in the industry my whole life (folding napkins at age three!) and have learned the ins and outs of making events unforgettable.
After a move to Philadelphia for college, I quickly realized political science wasn’t my path. Instead, I followed my passion for design, planning, and those magical wedding moments to Los Angeles. There, I landed the chance to work with a boutique catering company that catered to some big names—celebrities, influential figures—you name it.
Next, I found myself managing The Mountain Terrace in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I oversaw over 180 one-of-a-kind events. I’m talking everything from beautiful traditional weddings to quirky, fun celebrations like Star Wars-themed “May the 4th be with you” weddings (yes, it was as epic as it sounds).
Eventually, I wanted to flex my skills in large-scale corporate events and joined Global Gourmet Catering, creating luxe experiences for Silicon Valley’s top-tier. But no matter how much I loved those high-end corporate gigs, my heart kept coming back to weddings—specifically the out-of-the-box, adventurous ones.
That’s why I started Folklore Events. Whether you’re dreaming of a whimsical garden wedding, an intimate mountaintop elopement, or something totally unexpected (goodbye boring white weddings!), I’m all about creating something that feels personal and unique to you. Plus, with my experience as the Manager of Private Events at Denver Botanic Gardens, I’ve got a serious love for blending natural beauty with unforgettable experiences.
So, if you’re ready to ditch the cookie-cutter wedding and create something that truly reflects who you are, you’re in the right place. Let’s do this!

I am a travel junkie. I love to experience new places and to learn about other cultures near and far. Do you have a special destination in mind for your special day and are wondering if I am willing to travel? 1000x yes! yes! yes!
I’m a total nerd—like, the real kind. Not just the "I've seen Harry Potter" kind of nerd. I’m talking captain of the high school quiz bowl team, still playing Dungeons & Dragons, and constantly daydreaming about fantasy worlds. Honestly, magical realms inspire so many of my event designs. Middle-Earth, Westeros, Neverland, Asgard, Wonderland, Hogwarts, Florin—these places are my happy place, and I’m always finding ways to weave a little bit of that magic into my events.
There is nothing that makes me light up more than animals. My partner and I have four adorable fur babies: Aleister, Beans, Sookie, and Freya.
I love when I am able to incorporate animals into my events. Whether it's your dog as a ring bearer, a horse for a baraat, or a full on petting zoo for all of your guests to enjoy!
When I am not planning my client's dream weddings you will find me:
I’m basically a mix of an A-type personality and a creative whirlwind! I love organizing everything—whether it’s my pantry or my friends. For any trip I take, I can't help myself—I design a full travel magazine with all the info about the destination, an itemized itinerary, and a packing list. Not only are they super cute, but also helpful for the trip I planned! It’s just how my brain works, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“My husband and I live in Hawaii and we were planning a destination wedding in Woodside, CA. We were overwhelmed at first with all the details and were worried about how things would get done. After being introduced to Emily, she made everything so easy and stress free throughout all the long distance planning. Emily was always accommodating to my schedule and the time difference when we needed to touch base about anything. Throughout the whole process I felt like Emily became a friend of ours and we were so blessed to have her because she helped give us the most beautiful wedding day. I highly recommend Folklore Event Planning & Design”
